Namitha Pramod is an Indian actress who works primarily in Malayalam and Tamil films. The multiple award winning actress is best known for her roles in the Malayalam thriller Traffic (2011), Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum (2013), the comedy Chandrettan Evideya (2015), the coming of age film Vikramadityan (2014) and the comedy horror Adi Kapyare Kootamani (2015). Apart from feature films, Namitha has also worked in the TV series like Ente Manasaputhri, Vellankanni Mathavu and Amme Devi.

Early Life
Born in Kumarakom, Kerala, Namitha Pramod is the daughter ofIndu, a housewife and Pramod, a businessman. The actress has a younger sister named Akhita Pramod. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram. In 2014, the actress enrolled in St. Theresa’s College in Kochi, Kerala to pursue a B.A degree in Sociology.
Movie Career
Namitha made her silver screen debut with the critically acclaimed Malayalam thriller Traffic (2011) directed by Rajesh Pillai. She portrayed the character of Riya, the terminally ill daughter of Rahman and Lena. The role got her into the spotlight and made her a recognizable face in the industry. She then starred in her first lead role alongside Nivin Pauly in the film Puthiya Teerangal (2012). For her performance as the fisherwoman Thamara, she earned the Amrita Film Award for New Face of the Year, and a nomination for Asianet Film Award for Best Actress. This was followed by lead roles in the comedy Sound Thoma (2013) and Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum (2013). Both the films were commercially successful, with the latter winning her the Asianet Film Award for Most Popular Actress for the latter. The same year, Namitha was selected as the Top Star 2013 (Female) in Malayalam cinema.
In 2014, the actress was cast in her first Tamil film En Kadhai Pudhithu directed by Maaris Kumar. She then starred in the Malayalam drama thriller Law Point (2014) directed by Lal Jose. This was followed with a role in Lal Jose’s coming of age film Vikramadithyan, which earned her a SIIMA nomination for Best Actress. Namitha’s final release in 2014 was the romantic drama Ormayundo Ee Mukham, for which she was paired with actor Vineeth Sreenivasan. Although the film received mostly positive critical reviews, commercially it was a moderate success.

In the next year, the actress featured in Chandrettan Evideya alongside Dileep and Anushree. The movie was a box office hit and Namitha’s portrayal of Dr. Geethanjali was critically acclaimed, garnering the actress her first Filmfare nomination for best Supporting Actress. Later in the year, the actress went onto feature in the Malayalam musical comedy Amar Akbar Anthony, in which she portrayed the role of a dancer, starring alongside veterans like Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Indrajith. The movie was a commercial and critical hit. This was followed by John Varghese’s comedy horror film Kapyare Kootamani (2015).
In 2016, Namitha Pramod added another feather in her already illustrious career cap as she made her debut in a Telugu film, Chuttalabbai directed by Veerabhadram Chowdary and co-starring Aadi. The film emerged to be a commercial hit with the box office collections totaling to 15 crores worldwide. Her 2017 releases include Kathalo Rajakumari, a Telugu-language film directed by Mahesh Surapaneni and Roles Models, a Malayalam film directed by Rafi and co-starring Fahadh Faasil, Vinayakan and Srinda Arhaan.
T.V Career
Namitha appeared in Surya T.V’s Velankanni Mathavu (2009) and Amme Devi (2010). She has also participated in the popular reality program Ningalkkum Aakaam Kodeeshwaran (2015), which was aired on Asianet.
