The legal age for getting a driving license in India has been fixed at 18 years. Any Indian citizen of the age of 18 years or more can go to the RTO office and get his driving license made. However, getting a driving license by going to the RTO office is quite a hassle. However, you can also get a learning driving license without going to the RTO office.
Ministry of Road Transport gives the facility to make online driving license
The Ministry of Road Transport, which comes under the Government of India, provides the service of getting a driving license online. Using this facility, you can get your driving license done online from the comfort of your home. However, only your learning driving license will be made online. You have to go to the RTO office to get a permanent license.
What is the complete process of getting online learning driving license
Step 1- To apply for online learning driving license, you must first go to its official website sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/stateSelection.do. On the website you have to select your state from the drop down list. After this, you have to click on the option of Learner’s License Apply from the list.
Step 2- After this step, you will have to choose the option of giving the test from home. After doing this, you have to check the box of application without driving license issued in the country and then click on the submit button.
Step 3- In the third step, you have to click on the option of Generate OTP after entering the mobile number of the Aadhaar card. After entering the OTP, you will also have to verify all the details.
Step 4- After verifying all the details, one has to check the box to accept the terms and conditions. After this you have to click on the button of Verify.
Step 5- In the fifth step, you have to choose the option of payment of license fee. After that you can give the test. To take the test, you are also required to watch a 10-minute driving guideline video. After the video is over, an OTP and password for the test will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Step 6- Before starting the test, you will also have to fill a form. After that you have to start the test by fixing the front camera on your device.
Step 7 – In the test you will be asked 10 questions out of which you will have to answer six questions correctly. After clearing the test, a link for the license will be sent to the registered phone number. If the test is not cleared, then Rs 50 will have to be paid for the test again.
