In India, banks are the most traditional type of financial intermediary. They are crucial in directing family funds toward both structured and unorganised industries. Indian Commercial Banks, Industrial Banks, Exchange Banks, Agricultural Banks, Cooperative Banks, and Indigenous Bankers comprise the Indian Banking System. The Reserve Bank of India serves as the system’s central bank.

Types of Banks

Indian banks are categorised into four major types:
